The Wall Street Journal is reporting that a money quote was given to a Wall Street firm by a source that was fired.
The quote was “to tell you I have a $20 billion in assets” and it was a reference to the Wall Street firms losses.
The source, who was fired by the firm, told the Journal that he “had no idea it was going to happen” and “was never going to get paid.”
It was unclear whether the source is still with the firm or has left the firm.
The company did not respond to CNBC’s request for comment.
The Wall Street News also reported that a source who was terminated was fired after reporting on a money quotation he received from a company that was also fired.
That company has since filed for bankruptcy protection.
